Rupert Goold né le 18 février 1972 à Highgate, Londres, est un directeur de théâtre anglais.

Il est directeur artistique du Almeida Theatrecite-ref-guardian-1-0[1]. Goold a aussi dirigé la Headlong Theatre Company (2005–2013).

Goold est né en Angleterre, à Highgate (un quartier du nord de Londres). Son père était consultant en management et sa mère était auteure de livres pour enfantscite-ref-observer-2-0[2]. Goold est allé à l'University College Schoolcite-ref-3[3], puis a été diplômé au Trinity College de Cambridge en 1994 avec une mention très bien en Littérature anglaise. Par la suite, il a entrepris des études de théâtre à l'Université de New York grâce à une bourse d'études du programme Fulbright.

Il a été le directeur artistique du Royal and Derngate Theatres de la ville de Northampton de 2000 à 2005. Avant cela, il s'est associé au Salisbury Playhouse en 1996–97. En plus de son travail en tant que directeur, il a été co-auteur de trois adaptations pour la scène.

Depuis 2010 Goold est directeur associé de la Royal Shakespeare Companycite-ref-4[4].

Goold est marié à l'actrice Kate Fleetwoodcite-ref-5[5]. Ils se sont rencontrés lorsqu'ils travaillaient ensemble sur une adaptation de Roméo et Juliette. Le couple a deux enfants, un garçon, Raphaël, et une fille, Constancecite-ref-observer-2-1[2].
